The colour of white wine is determined by both the skin colour of the grape and the length of time it comes in to contact with the juice during the fermentation process.  As most white wine is made from grapes that have a green, gold or yellowish coloured hue its not surprising that the resulting white wine can range from almost clear to a deep rich gold in colour. 

As with red wine there are over fifty white grape varietals commonly used in white wine production across the world today although the most common are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Semillon, Viognier and Chenin Blanc.

We classify all our white wines using two scales.  The traditional 1-8 with 1 representing the driest wines and 8 the sweetest as well as our in-house Wine Style classification.  We have four white wine styles Very Dry Subtle White Wines (cactus), Dry Aromatic White Wines (leaf), Ripe Fruit Driven White Wines (pineapple) and Nutty Oaked White Wines (acorn).

These styles are intended to help group wines that have a similar taste profile regardless of the country they come from or grape varietal they use.
