The Glenfiddich Train is Unstoppable

The artisanal distillers have been very busy lately at Glenfiddich. Last week they launched Glenfiddich 1974 Vintage Reserve, releasing only 50 bottles into the UK, and this week they have launched their first-ever nineteen year old single malt Scotch Whisky matured in oak casks. The oaks casks were previously used to age fine Madeira wine.

This great release is called Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish, and it celebrates the pioneering spirit of Portuguese explorers in the 15th Century. The wonderful Whisky is bottled in a black glass bottle, embellished with a red cartouche compass and encased in an outer display box, adorned with creative  illustrations, mapping out the travels of Portuguese explorers. The Whisky is brimming with aromas of ripe fig, and caramelised fruit, bursting with spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper.

The Glenfiddich innovation train does not stop there. Glenfiddich 21 Year Old has also been rebranded with the sub-brand ‘Gran Reserva’. The bottle has been beautifully redesigned and it is now presented in a deep burgundy box which is embellished with an intricate design. The bottle bears the signature of Brian Kinsman, The Glenfiddich Malt Master.

With these recent product initiatives Glenfiddich has really stepped up the competition within the Whisky world, creating an even more premium and quality brand. I wonder what is next at the distiller.
