Armagnac being very similar to Cognac is still made from the grapes of hundreds os small farmers. Gascon grapes tend not to be as delicate as Cognac grapes therefore the distillate tends to less complex.
Armagnac tends to be broken down into three main regions, Tenareze, Bas Armagnac and Haut Armagnac.
Armagnac has some very ancient vintages and as such 1893, and 1904 were very good years. At the Purveyor we stock Janneau which is very popular.
