A new way to try your gin

Ever drunk your gin hot? No, I thought not. This time of year our thoughts tend to turn to things like mulled wine to warm your cockles. But why not try heating up your gin?

Bombay Sapphire Hot Harpoon

Those wonderful ladies and gentlemen at Bombay have come up with the Bombay Sapphire Hot Harpoon – its a variation on a Cosmopolitan (which is one of Mrs Purveyor’s favourites) and sound just perfect for warming your toes by the fire on these long dark nights.

So this is what you need;

100ml Bombay Sapphire

100ml Cranberry juice

35ml Triple Sec or Grand Marnier,

Orange Liqueur,

Orange Curacao or maybe Cointreau

A lime (cut into some wedges then squeezed)

Cinnamon stick

Cloves

Orange slice studded with cloves (reminds me of making pomanders as a child)

and most importantly a Coffee glass

Now then, what you need to do is this;

Place all of the ingredients into a pan and heat to a rolling simmer (stirring occasionally) for around 10 minutes to fuse the flavours fully.

Enjoy this warming tipple with a friend and carefully pour the resulting liquid into two coffee glasses and garnish with a twist of orange peel, orange slice studded with cloves and a cinnamon stick to use as a stirrer.

So tasty !
