Origins: Russia

Russia arguably is the birth place of vodka, but many Poles would disagree. Russian vodka is made from many carbohydrate bases such as wheat and potato. Vodka has been with Russians at every moment of their great history. It was with them in space and during every major conflict. Like Polish vodka meaning little water it is integral to the Russian way of life. In fact there is more vodka drunk in Russia than any other spirit in any other country in the world. It is estimated that Russians drink on average thirty bottles per year.
