Origins: Poland

It is a subject of great debate whether vodka or wodka as the Polish people say was invented in Russia or Poland. Large scale production began in Poland in the 16th century and tends to be made from rye rather than wheat. The Polish have some amazing vodkas and since they joined the EU we are benefiting from discovering these gems. Wodka means little water and as such became integral to the Polish way of life. There are thousands of different brands in Poland all awaiting to be discovered.
