Origins: Barbados

A great and famous member of the Caribbean which has one of the highest levels of literacy and standards of living in the world, but it is not this fact that makes it famous, it is it's love affair with rum.

Barbados used to have some massive sugar plantations during the 1800's and these mountains of sugar created a thriving rum industry which has been enjoyed throughout the world.

Without Rum and the Carribean the world would be poorer.
