whisky AND malt
Scotch whiskies are mainly distilled twice, with some are distilled a third time. International laws require anything bearing the label “Scotch” to be distilled in Scotland and matured for a minimum of three years in oak casks.
The Dalmore Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839 and, for almost a century, was owned by the Clan Mackenzie.
The distillery was first founded with the name of the nearby town Strathspey in the late 1890s.
It was in November 1824 that George Smith was granted a distiller’s licence for the remote parish of Glenlivet.
The Macallan was first distilled in 1824 at The Macallan Distillery near Easter Elchies House, at Craigellachie.
