The Beer Hawk Lands
A Cask Ale Retailer is Born
The trend in cask ales is creating opportunities all over the place. I spoke last week about the growth of microbreweries in the UK now reaching well over a 1,000. This trend is not just happening in the UK, it is booming in the USA and other big brewing countries.
The growth is coming from two areas, the first, lads under thirty discovering local brewing for the very first time, and secondly, lads over forty who remember their dads drinking local cask ales over thirty years ago.
The recession is creating opportunity as the weaker pubs go to the wall, and the stronger pubs differentiate via food, interior design and beer offering. It is this growth in c
ask ales that a new entrance to the market has noticed. The Beer Hawk has recently launched as an internet retailer that just sells cask ales from around the world. It is a cracking site with good navigation and a great selection of beer. They also have a beeropedia to help you navigate all the weird and wonderful terms in the industry. I will be using it as my secret cheat sheet.
Finally they have a section called What’s New ,where there is a great video showing the removal of beer bottle tops in lots of weird and wonderful ways. This section could develop into a bit of a cult following if they keep finding great videos like that.
